You can add a custom avatar (small picture under user name) via two methods:

Begin by editing your user profile, for instructions on this visit the Edit User Profile thread.

Scroll down to the Avatar sections of the User Profile.


If Choose from the library is selected, click on the Pick Library Image button. A pop up will appear with a selection of available images.

If Specify a remote image is selected, add the URL of the image and the width and height of the image in pixel values.

TIP: If you have an image you wish to use that is not already a hosted image you can upload your image to TinyPic, who will host your image. Pointing to images hosted by services like Yahoo! Photos do not work as the URL is not static. This also goes for posting images within a thread.

When using TinyPic, after the image has been uploaded copy the URL in the IMG Link (middle), example: , into the thread.
