Functional Description: The GIS technician will be responsible for performing mid-level professional GIS duties including but not limited to data creation and maintenance, data querying in ArcGIS, spatial analysis, and cartographic production. The candidate will work directly with the citys utility services department providing GIS support for the citys water and wastewater divisions.
Education and Typical Years Experience Qualified candidates must have at least 2 years experience in relevant working experience in GIS services, excellent customer service and support skills, BA/BS in Geography, GIS , Computer Science or related field, experience with workgroup level SDE (MS SQL Server 2005 Express) and ESRI ArcGIS Desktop 9.x skills. Additionally, the candidate must possess strong written and oral communications skills, Analytical and problem-solving abilities with keen attention to details and must be able to complete projects independently in a responsible and timely manner. Experience with water and wastewater networks and ArcGIS geometric networks is a plus.
