Greetings! Welcome to the January 2007 Virtual Meeting of the California GIS Council. This will be a non-voting meeting, open to all. Please engage in the discussion, using the topic questions as points of departure. As the California GIS community, we need to have a healthy discussion regarding our common needs of a robust spatial data infrastructure. This forum just begins part of that discussion. I look forward to reading (and listening to) the the points of view presented.
The meeting will be open from Monday January 22, until Wednesday January 24 late PM. Below are the instructions for attending the meeting. I look forward to reading the discussion. Background information on the 50 States Initiatives, can be found at http://nsgic.org/hottopics/fifty_states.cfm

If you have problems with registration or login please contact me and I will repair them. You can have sidebar discussions with individuals if they place their email in their profiles. Let us know what you think of this format, by posting a reply to the Welcome and Introduction Topic.
The virtual meeting will conclude on Friday, January 26, 1-4 PM, with a video webcast recapping the virtual discussion, further discussion on needed actions, and a presentation from Cy Smith, Oregon GIS Coordinator on the Oregon GIS Utility and coordination in Oregon. Please plan on attending this important session and interacting with Cy on his efforts and how we can improve coordination in our state.
