Just wondering if anyoone on this forum is doing any 3D modeling and/or 3D GIS. If so, what software and data (e.g, LIDAR, LAR-IAC, building foot prints, DEMs, etc.) are you using?
We are using GIS in 3D for a variety of purposes. We are a landscape architecture, planning, and development services firm, so we do the typical land based analysis using Spatial Analyst and 3D Analyst, but due to the nature of the design profession everyone needs to see things in 3D space. I have done several 3D flythrough videos/animations that how our designs in ArcScene or in ArcGlobe. ArcScene is the older software and has many limitations, but ArcGlobe is great for 3D! Also, ArcExplorer is a great way to share 3D with a client, and the new ArcExplorer 900 will be out hopefully in August, and will be an amazing presentation tool. It's like combining ArcExplorer with Powerpoint.
