GIS Technical Analyst Opening - Downtown Los Angeles, CA


KEYSER MARSTON ASSOCIATES is a real estate/economic consulting firm which provides redevelopment, real estate, economic development, and financial services to public and private sector clients.

JOB DESCRIPTION:
Manage the GIS database development & analysis process, which involves compiling and integrating various data sources into an Access database, linking it to the GIS and generating various customized queries, analyses, tables, and thematic maps.  Will work primarily with the redevelopment group.

SAMPLE DUTIES:
* Generating various thematic & analytical maps,
* Managing large databases and spreadsheets,
* Generating summary tables and graphs,
* Manipulating data and creating Access queries,
* Assisting with analyses related to landuse, urbanization, demographics and blighting issues,
* Preparing charts and presentation materials.

BACKGROUND:
Graduation from a four-year college or university with a degree in GIS, urban planning, geography or a closely related field; and two years of increasingly responsible experience in the use of geographic information systems; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. 
Must be highly organized, detail-oriented, efficient, and capable of juggling multiple tasks in a deadline-oriented environment.  Must have excellent analytical and organization skills.
SOFTWARE EXPERIENCE:
ESRI's ArcGIS software
MS Office suite (primarily Access & Excel)
Qualifications that are preferable but not required: Familiarity with assessor parcel maps & related data; Knowledge of advanced functions such as SQL, Modules and Macros; Knowledge of VBA and other database applications; Familiarity with Adobe Illustrator and PDF files, Internet research experience.
