:
The title of my thesis is: "A Method for Locating Abandoned Oil Wells in Wood County, Ohio Using Remote Sensing and Geophysical Techniques." In order to locate unknown abandoned wells the known wells required study. The first obstacle was communicating with the local auditors office, ODNR, and property owners to locate and get permission to do research around the known wells. I met with each property owner and collected soil samples, for which I measured the reflectance spectrum of each with a spectrometer in the lab. At each site, a five-by-five grid with two-meter spacing was used in the geophysical surveys. The OhmMapper dipole-dipole resistivity device and the G-856 proton magnetometer with the gradiometer attachment were used to conduct each survey. Then I analyzed this data using Magmapper2000, Surfer, Excel, Res2dinv and ASTER satellite data (with ER Mapper).
